In 2003, Lisa decided to start her own business, focused on business writing for print, digital, and web applications. In the intervening years, she has gained extensive experience and expertise in what has become her primary focus: food safety, quality, and defense. Through her writings, she has become recognized for her knowledge and contributions to the advancement of food safety.
Lisa began her food safety communications career as the lead writer for the then newly formed Ecolab Pest Elimination division where she provided customer and technical communications to and about foodservice, hospitality, and food processing. Through LJ Writing Services and QA magazine, which she joined in 2004, Lisa champions her role as a leading voice of food safety, quality, and defense. Her plant-floor observations and discussions of food safety and quality processes and practices in the more than 60 food and beverage processing plants she has profiled, have given her extensive, first-hand knowledge of the realities of the industry.
Lisa is a chapter author of Food Traceability (Springer, 2019) and editor of multiple pest control books, including the PCT Guide to Commercial Pest Management. She is a Senior Advisor to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Food Safety Consortium Board; a Past President of the Twin Cities Chapter of ASBPE; participant in a PAACO/AMI Meat Plant Welfare Auditor Training Course; and has spoken on topics such as industry evolutions, trends, and expectations at the Food Safety Summit, Sigma Xi Science Society Food Safety Symposium, Southern California Food Industry Conference, GMA Science Forum, and corporate food safety conferences.
